Chocolate Banana Crepes, oh my!

After a slow start this morning, we decided to explore Autun, a town about an hour south west of Beaune and rich in Roman and Medieval history.  After parking across from the military school with its brightly tiled roof, we made our way into the center of town ... where Noah promptly found a slide!
We also got to see where Napoleon Bonaparte went to school.  The building is looking tired and somewhat abandoned right now, although the wrought iron fence with gold decorations is beautiful.
We found a little sidewalk cafe where we had yummy creeps for lunch and spoiled Noah with a chocolate banana crepe all to himself.  Catherine stuck with her usual bottle of milk ....
.... And Doug finished with a cappuccino.  Surprise, surprise!
Autun is a pretty little town with some beautiful buildings, again in that monochromatic cream stone finish we have found in most of the parts of Burgundy we have explored so far.  Our walk took us through town and outside what remains of the old town walls and then back into the town center and the magnificent Cathederal of St. Lazare.
Finally, before heading home we visited what remains of the ancient Roman Arena, which once held 12,000 people - the largest in this part of Rome.
Then back to our apartment for some play time and supper.
We ended our day with a walk through the small community of Ladoix-Serrigny (where the apart, ent we are renting is located), complete with its very own little castle and moat!
