Another lazy morning, another day at the beach. Are we getting repetitious, yet? Over breakfast, Carolyn and David played with the homemade marshmallow catapult we brought for Noah. Then Elizabeth did a great job entertaining Cooper and Noah in the pool while everyone finished up their breakfast.
After breakfast, Mom and Dad went to pick up our friends Sue and Craig Newhook (Craig works at the airport in St. Maarten and Sue visits him for a while every few weeks - they are spending a night with us while we are here) at the ferry. As soon as they arrived back at the villa, we headed to the beach at Rendezvous Bay, dropping Elizabeth, Paul and Cooper off at another beach on the way there. We spent the rest of the morning on the beach, digging, swimming, kite boarding, chatting and drinking pina coladas.
Candace attracted a lot of attention from the people on the beach, who cheered her when she jumped and were impressed to see a woman doing such an athletic activity.
Around noon, we all packed up and went to join Elizabeth, Paul and Cooper for lunch back at Blanchard’s Beach Shack, where we had lunched earlier in the week. Cooper charmed everyone by sitting or standing in the middle of the table while we ate.
After lunch, it was back to the villa so little people could nap, while Candace, Sue and Craig went back to the beach to try more kite boarding. Unfortunately, the wind had dropped so Candace had to pack it in for the day.
Later in the afternoon, Sue, Craig, Christina, Kit, Carolyn and David went for a drive around the island. With Kit behind the wheel and Craig navigating (without glasses), we managed to get ourselves onto some pretty rough and remote roads, finding a gravel pit and junk yard in the process. We were also amazed at the number of goats roaming around the island - they were in the fields, in ditches, in back yards and walking along the side of the road. Some were tied but many were wandering freely.
Although we got back to the villa later than planned, we still managed to have a yummy barbecue chicken dinner by the pool including an impromptu birthday party for David, whose birthday was on Feb 15th.
After such a great day, we were all exhausted and most of us were in our beds and sound asleep by 9:30pm.
