An eight o'clock departure from Halifax seemed like such a sensible thing. The kids go to bed about then so they would be asleep in no time. Catherine (the sweet angel) went along with the plan and fell asleep during take off. Noah, on the other hand, in true two-year-old fashion decided it would be fun to stay up most of the flight, leaving us long-suffering parents with little sleep in turn.

So, one six hour flight (and less than two hours of sleep for Noah) later, we found ourselves pushing two kids and a pile of luggage through Frankfurt airport with a smile.
After a quick stop for some brezen, we made the happy discovery that THIS time we would be driving a sporty German car for the next two weeks (more on at later).
A three hour drive turned into a four hour drive but at the end our reward -the charming town of Colmar and a table full of tartes flambees next to the canal. What a sweet reward.
Our home for the next two nights is a working winery in the middle of Colmar, complete with kitchen and higgly-piggly, half-timbered buildings ... And a glass of wine on the terrace before bed.
