Remember to Schedule Kid Time

Today was mostly about getting to Burgundy and giving the kids time to play.  We left Colmar mid-morning on our way to Beaune.  Wanting a break from highway driving, we got off halfway there and meandered along a beautiful canal.  The villages along the canal seemed to be competing with each other to see who could put the most extravagant floral displays in their public area - it was amazing.  Finally realizing we might have pushed the kids' patience too far we made a beeline for Beaune.

The apartment we have rented is quaint and lovely and, wanting to make it up to Noah and Catherine, we spent the rest of the afternoon playing there.  Then it was off to a rainy Beaune's old center for dinner.  Most of the restaurants were closed and feeling like we might have to make due with take out pizza, we hit the jackpot.  We found a table outdoors, under an awning, next to a heater at a nice kid-friendly restaurant, which is recommended in one of our trusted guide books.

The kids were great through dinner and we made it back to our apartment for their usual bedtime.
